Can leaders help us choose camping equipment?
Absolutely. If your family is new to camping, ask before buying. Troop leaders can help you distinguish between what is required, what is optional, and what makes sense for the kinds of campouts Troop 4110 actually does.
Does the troop provide tents or sleeping bags?
Families are generally responsible for personal sleeping and shelter gear such as tents, sleeping bags, and pads or cots. If you are new to camping or do not have something, ask a leader before buying; we can help you work through options.
What gear does he need for a campout?
Typical personal gear includes a tent or sleeping arrangement, sleeping bag, pad or cot if desired, appropriate clothing, backpack or day bag, and a reusable mess kit. Each campout’s final packing information is provided before the event.
Does my son need camping gear before joining?
No. Do not buy a complete camping setup just to join. When a campout approaches, leaders can help you understand the required personal gear and what can be borrowed, shared, or purchased gradually.
What if we cannot afford camping equipment?
Please talk with a troop leader before buying a large amount of gear. Leaders can help you understand what is actually required, suggest economical options, and help identify possible borrowed or shared solutions where appropriate.
